MAKASSAR was established from a small area called Tallo. In this region the bodies of the founders of Makassar lied. If you would like to go along and understand the importance of Makassar in the history of Indonesian archipelago civilization come to Tallo, the early kingdom area of Makassar.

Kings of Tallo tomb located in Tallo Village, Tallo District, Makassar City, Province of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is about six kilometers north of central city of Makassar (Karebosi Field).

Graves in the cemetery complex is generally have a 17th century character resembles temple buildings. It made of rock and bricks that glued one another. Totally area of the complex is one hectare. Fit as a shady garden because of many large and leafy trees.

There are 78 graves in the complex contains the tomb of first King, grandson and his children. There are three types of graves. The first type is collated piles, made of blocking stones resembles a temple. It consists of legs, body, and hollowing roof.

The second kind is a stone tablet, the tomb made as wood building consists of four rectangular board-shaped stone. The third type is the domed building, the tomb with hollow building and stood on the rectangular stone with a roof dome consists of four areas of flexion.

Tomb of the king has a variety of ornaments, such as growing plants, lockets, letters of Arab, and lontara letter (typical latter of Bugis-Makassar).

Approximately 200 meters southern of the tomb complex, there is Tallo Mosque. In this mosque for the first time Makassar people held a Friday pray on November 9, 1607, which is the momentum of standing of Makassar. This form of the mosque is no longer an ancient building because it has experienced several renovations.

Location of the area is near to the toll gates of Sutami Highway and Port Highway. Make this site accessible from the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport and from the central city of Makassar. It easily reached by taxi or city transport called petepete.
